Durango Riverside Resort is a Pet Friendly Park. We've had
the pleasure of meeting every purebred and mixed breed
of dogs imaginable. A few cats and even a rabbit have been
our guests! Our thanks go out to the many responsible pet owners
who have stayed with us!
PET OWNER GUIDELINES
Make sure we have the phone number that you have with
you. In case of a complaint, or worse - an emergency, such as a
fire, we would call you immediately.
Dogs must be on a leash at all times. For the safety and comfort of
others, do not let them go through people's sites. A leashed dog is a safer
dog from the host of critters that may travel through our park. We have
had black bears, deer, elk, raccoons, bobcats, wild turkeys, and squirrels. If
you will be walking them after dark, it's a good idea to have something on
their collar that will make a little noise. We use bear bells during bear season,
which we sell in our gift shop.
Please pick up after your pet. There are pet refuse stations for your
convenience.
Do not leave pets unattended. Many times dogs suffer from separation
anxiety, especially if you leave a dog in a cabin. It is a new and strange home
to them, full of different sounds and smells. They will bark, cry, and howl,
which usually ends in a complaint. The good news is, we have a couple of
options. If you plan on riding the train and cannot take your dog with
you please make plans ahead of time. There is a petsitter who lives behind
us, who we highly reccomend. We also have Willow Tree Kennels 5 miles
south of us, and they will accommodate special requests, knowing that the
train departs early.

Luckily Durango is a very pet friendly city where you may take your dog into
most stores.
Pets are not permitted inside the playground and pool area, for
health and safety reasons.
Sorry, wolves and wolf-hybrids are not allowed.
HELPFUL INFORMATION
Not only do we have a petsitter who lives behind us, we have a Vet next door!-
Baker's Bridge Veterinary Clinic - 970-247-4701
Please note that our park is predominately gravel with a few grassy areas in
some of the sites. There are many places to exercise your dog outside of the
park. We have a great hiking trail about 100 yds from here. Baker's
Bridge is an easy 5 minute walk down the street. That is the location where
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid jumped from the rock into the water for
the movie!
Giardia, is common in most of the Colorado Rivers. There is a vaccine
to protect your dogs if you plan on taking them swimming. I know my dog
drinks more than he swims!
We love our 4 legged kid guests, and want you to enjoy your time
with them while on vacation! Don't forget to register your dogs
when you arrive, they all get treats!
Please feel free to call us with any concerns or questions.
